The U.S. Postal Service dedicated a new Forever Stamp honoring Shirley Temple, celebrating both her iconic Hollywood career and her distinguished service as a diplomat. The stamp, unveiled at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, is the 20th in the Legends of Hollywood series, joining figures such as Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, and John Wayne. Postmaster General Megan J. Brennan highlighted Temple’s dual legacy, stating that the stamp honors her as “a world renowned actress and for her distinguished career in public service and international affairs.” The event brought together dignitaries, arts leaders, former ambassadors, and three generations of Temple’s family.

The stamp artwork, created by illustrator Tim O’Brien, is based on a 1935 image from Curly Top, one of Temple’s most beloved films. The stamp pane also includes a 1933 publicity photo and biographical text detailing her achievements in entertainment and diplomacy. Speakers at the ceremony emphasized Temple’s enduring impact, with her son Charles Black Jr. noting the tribute reflects “her extraordinary legacy and her almost magical life story.” The dedication marks another recognition of Temple’s unique place in American culture, spanning film, public service, and international relations.
