Shirley Temple Inducted into California Hall of Fame

The California Hall of Fame inducted it's 16th class in a virtual ceremoony on August 22,2023. This class of inductees honors seven influential figures across public service, entertainment, sports, science, and activism. This year’s honorees include Olympic gold medalist and educator Archie Williams, actress and screenwriter Carrie Fisher, legendary singer Etta James, LGBTQ rights pioneer José Julio Sarria, pilot and physicist Maggie Gee, actress and public servant Shirley Temple Black, and longtime Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully.
Governor Gavin Newsom praised the group’s impact on California’s cultural and historical legacy, stating, “The outstanding legacy of this group has and will continue to embody what it means to be a Californian. There is no doubt their legacies will continue to live on and inspire millions across our state for generations to come.” The announcement highlights the diverse achievements of the inductees and their lasting contributions to the state’s identity.
